Julio Ortiz

Julio Ortiz is a new young artist from Ponce, Puerto Rico who less than four years ago gave up a lucrative career in marketing in order to dedicate himself full time to his career as an artist. In this time, he has succeeded in selling his work abroad, especially in New York and Florida, where his work is popular among several collectors. Ortiz has also exhibited his work throughout the island, and has concentrated some of his efforts in the organization of his own gallery in order to showplace his work appropriately.

Ortiz began his serious studies of art as a young man in high school with Professor Ramón Román. Following graduation, he developed his art further under the guidance of the master artist, Jesús Ortiz. In addition to the influence of this master, Ortiz also attributes the works of Salvador Dalí as having a significant impact on his art. He paints mostly landscapes and readily admits that he does not enjoy painting the human form. He prefers that his viewers see themselves in his paintings, and while there, enjoy the themes of peace and tranquility that predominate in all his work.
